Dear Applicants,
There are moments in life that change us forever. For me, one of those moments was losing my son, Liam McPartland. He was only seventeen, yet in those short years, he taught me--and so many others--what it means to live with purpose, and with heart. Liam laughed loudly, cared fiercely, and met life with a spirit of determination that was impossible to ignore. He poured love into his family, his friends, his passions, his business, and his dreams.
The Volt Foundation presents the Liam McPartland Memorial Scholarship. The purpose of this award is to support hardworking students who are ready to take the next step in building their future. We know that success and fulfillment can take many forms, so the scholarship is open to students pursuing three different paths: college, trade school, and/or entrepreneurship. Whether your dream is to earn a degree, master a trade, and/or launch/expand a business, this fund exists to help you move forward with confidence and determination.
This is more than financial help. This is an invitation to carry Liam’s spirit with you. To chase your dreams with the same fire he carried. To approach your future not just with ambition, but with kindness. To give yourself permission to live fully, love deeply, and never take a single moment for granted.
How to Apply:
To be considered for one of the three scholarships, I invite you to write a Letter of Intent. In your letter, share who you are and where you hope your journey will take you. I invite you, to tell the Volt Foundation:
- What will this award be used for?
- What are your goals?
- What drives you, and/or what is the source of your ambition?
Your story matters. Your voice matters. And your dreams are worth sharing. This is your chance to put those dreams into words, and to let us see the fire that burns within you.

Liam believed in living fully, in refusing to hold back, and in giving everything to the people and goals that mattered most. That is what I hope to encourage in each applicant of this award--not just achievement, but the courage to live with purpose, resilience, and heart. Above all else, living truthfully and treating all with kindness.
